2006 Global Projection of Flexible Circuits

DKN Research has conducted an intensive investigation into the future of the flex industry out to 2010. We examined the business segments that currently use flex and those applications in the future that will require flex as the means of interconnect due to packaging constraints, weight considerations, cost goals or density requirements. We included 8 different application segments which cover the vast majority of the flex circuits produced. These business segments were selected because of the high percentage of flex used today or the trends in the future that will require the use of flex to meet their packaging goals.
- Personal computer (Desk top, laptop)
- PC Peripherals (Disc drive, PDA, printer, etc.)
- Cellular phones
- Audi & Video (Flat TV, MP3, DSC, VCR, etc.)
- IC substrates
- Medical (Ultra-sound probe, monitors, disposal sensors, etc.)
- Automobile (Power trains, navigator, etc)
- Industrial & Avionics
Each segment is broken down into the sub-units that uses flex and each sub-unit shows the volume of flex used in square meters and the revenues they are expected to generate. Further identified are the number of conductive layers it has and the level of density it incorporates. Additionally, the current interconnect technology utilized is included as well as the direction future products will incorporate.
The flex circuits also include base materials, various cover layers and constructions such as polyimide, polyester, TAB, thick film conductors and more.
A broad overview of the entire report is available for $90.00 and will show the level each segment represents for total revenues available and for total material usage. This digest version includes graphic representation of the material without the accompanying details in spreadsheet format used to generate the total amounts. This digest version is intended for use by individuals who want to understand the macro view of the interconnect industry and the trends of future technology.
A detailed breakdown of each segment is also available to who’s who want to understand the micro view of the technology trend, revenues available and material usage of each sub-unit within a given product segment. Individual segment prices and the cost of the entire report are outlined below. Ordering can be done by email, phone or mailing a request to DKN Research. Credit card purchases via Visa and Master card are also available.
